Hi there! I appreciate you visiting my blog. I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you.

As many of you reading this know, I was born in Missouri, USA. I moved to England in 2001, at the tender age of 22, to marry my charming husband Matthew. Since then I’ve been a British national with permanent right to remain, but I’m not a British citizen. I’d dearly love to be, but so far we haven’t been able to afford it. It’s on the list of family goals but our most immediate focus is saving for our son’s university education.

Throughout the years, I've consistently used my American overseas vote in federal and state elections, whereas my husband, and now our son, diligently vote here in the UK. For several reasons (which deserve a separate blog post), we've never felt at ease joining any political party. We have always voted for the candidate we believed was most likely to defeat the right-wing contender in the race.

We've lived in Colchester, Essex, for 15 years and have grown to deeply appreciate this town (city now!). The political and social developments over the past decade in both of my home countries has made me feel outraged and anxious. The only way I know to cope is to channel that fear and anger into efforts to counteract the gradual dismantling of democracy.

With this in mind, I've joined The Liberal Democrat Party. My focus is on the future, aiming for the best possible outcome for our country. Martin Goss, the Colchester Parliamentary Candidate, is a galvanising force, a caring person and a hard worker. I've watched Martin work for the people of Colchester for years, and his hands on approach is precisely what our city needs. I would love to see him equipped with the resources to achieve even more.

On a larger scale, I wholeheartedly agree with Ed Davey’s recent statements in support of President Zelenskyy, his work to hold our UK water companies accountable, his calls for a rapid increase in defence spending and much more. I don’t expect perfection from any political party, I don’t think that’s realistic, but in every way that matters I feel like my values and concerns are in alignment with the Liberal Democrats. I may not be able to vote in the UK but I can have a voice within the Liberal Democrats.

With my website now live, I'll be blogging regularly. Enter your email in the "subscribe" box to get a monthly newsletter roundup and exclusive content for subscribers. Feel free to comment or ask questions below!

Wishing you all the best, and as ever, thanks for reading,
